The National Weather Service in League City has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... Harris County in southeastern Texas... Northwestern Liberty County in southeastern Texas... Southeastern Montgomery County in southeastern Texas...

* Until 800 AM CDT.

* At 521 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Tomball, Cleveland, Kingwood, Spring, The Woodlands, Oak Ridge North, Shenandoah, Splendora, Patton Village, Roman Forest, Woodbranch, Plum Grove, North Cleveland, Woodloch, Porter Heights, Chateau Woods, Lake Houston, Hurricane Harbor Splashtown, The Woodlands Pavillion and Hooks Airport.

Zion Road at Boggs Gully, Farm to Market 2978 at Willow Creek, Gosling Road at Willow Creek, Valka Road at Theiss Gully, Lawrence Street at Cancer Center, Walden Way at Willow Creek, Ross Avenue at Reese Bayou, County Road 331 Gulf Road at Tarkington Bayou, Old Houston Road at Dry Creek, Pickering Road at Dry Creek, Faulkner Road at Peach Creek, Clennie Needham Rd at Bens Branch Tributary One, Johnson Road at Caney Creek Tributary One, "White Birch, Lexington and Concord Drives", Lakeshore Drive at Gulley Branch, Frye Road at Peach Creek Tributary, Old Houston Road at White Oak Creek, Rolling Hills Drive at White Oak Creek, Mills Branch Dr near Ford Rd, Rustling Elms Drive, CR 2201 or Pelican Rd at Marsh Branch Tributary, Azalea Way, Shimmering Pines Road, County Road 2199 at Marsh Branch Tributary One, Duke Road at Gulley Branch, Hill and Dale Avenue at Peach Creek Tributary, Rollings Hills Drive, Lexington Drive at Carters Slough and Concord Drive at Carters Slough.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CDT TODAY...

* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast Texas, including the following counties, Chambers, Harris, Liberty and Montgomery.

* WHEN...Until noon CDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas. Local media have reported water rescues.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 446 AM CDT, emergency management reported flooding in the warned area. Flooding is already occurring. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen this morning. This is in addition to Thursday morning's rainfall. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Southern Conroe, Humble, Tomball, Liberty, Dayton, Kingwood, Spring, Aldine, Greater Greenspoint, The Woodlands, Crosby, Oak Ridge North, Shenandoah, Splendora, Patton Village, Roman Forest, Woodbranch, Ames, Daisetta and Hardin. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast Texas, including the following areas, Brazos, Burleson, Coastal Harris, Grimes, Houston, Inland Harris, Madison, Montgomery, Northern Liberty, Polk, San Jacinto, Southern Liberty, Trinity, Walker, Waller and Washington.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Model guidance suggests potential for heavier rains in the watch area early today through this evening. Any further rainfall would at best slow the recession of existing floodwaters, and at worst would aggravate this flooding. Saturated soils will result in a greater risk of flash flooding, even at rain rates that typically do not cause problems in this area. 1-2 inches of new rainfall are possible with isolated totals of up to 3-4 inches. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
