...RED FLAG WARNING TODAY FROM 11 AM TO 8 PM MDT ACROSS EASTERN NM AND UPPER RIO GRANDE VALLEY DUE TO STRONG WINDS, VERY LOW HUMIDITY, AND AN UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE...

.Critical conditions are forecast to redevelop Wednesday afternoon east of the central mountain chain and within the Upper Rio Grande Valley. The lowest relative humidity and strongest winds will focus over the northeast highlands and northeast plains.

...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM MDT THIS EVENING...

* AREA AND TIMING...Northeast and East Central Plains (Zones 104 and 126) and the Central and Northeast Highlands (Zones 123 and 125) from 11 AM until 8 PM.

* 20 FOOT WINDS...West and northwest 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, particularly in the central and northeast highlands.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values between 6 and 12 percent.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

* WHAT...West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.

* WHERE...Central Highlands, East Slopes Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Glorieta Mesa Including Glorieta Pass, Southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and Northeast Highlands.

* WHEN...From noon today to 6 PM MDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs may be blown down. Expect strong crosswinds and patchy blowing dust on area roadways. This includes portions of I-25 south of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and I-40 near Clines Corners.

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
