The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* The District of Columbia, portions of Maryland, Virginia, and eastern West Virginia, including the following areas, in Maryland, Anne Arundel, Carroll, Howard, Montgomery, Charles, Frederick, Baltimore, Harford, Prince Georges and Washington counties. In the District of Columbia, Washington DC. In Virginia, Albemarle, Arlington, Augusta, Clarke, Culpeper, Loudoun, Fairfax, Frederick, Greene, Madison, Nelson, Fauquier, Page, Prince William, Rappahannock, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Stafford and Warren counties, along with adjacent independent cities and the northern and central Blue Ridge Mountains. In easter West Virginia, Berkeley and Jefferson counties.

* Showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected to overspread the region by this afternoon and continue through this evening before departing late tonight. Repetitive storms and multiple rounds of heavy rain may result in rainfall amounts which could exceed 3 inches locally. Flash flooding is possible, particularly in urban areas and in areas of steep terrain.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
